The regular meeting of the Bruce Township Board was held on June 12, 2014 at the Bruce Township Hall with board members Marsh, LaJoie, Sawyers, Rogers and Pins present.  Absent none.  There were 2 township residents present.  The Supervisor called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.


            Public Comments:  There were no public comments.


            The minutes of the May 8, 2014 meeting were presented.  Motion was made by Pins, seconded by LaJoie to accept the minutes as presented.  All were in favor, motion carried.


            Motion was made by Rogers, seconded by Pins to pay the bills.  Checks # 7934 through # 7968 were issued for a total of $ 18,270.83.   All were in favor, motion carried.


            County Commission Report:  Commissioner McLean was not present.


            Reports of Special Meeting:  There were no reports.


            Zoning Administrator:  There have been 17 permits issued this year.


            Assessor’s Report:  The Assessor has to leave a sign that they had been on the property.  Starting next week they will spend 2 weeks on water front property.  There have been two tribunal hearings.


            Planning Commission:  There was no meeting in June.


            Treasurer’s Report:  The Treasurer’s report was read.  The balance of all funds is $999,858.99.


            Clerk’s Report:  There was no correspondence.


            Tim McKee was present with a resolution from Chippewa County that out lines the County’s options to reduce overall damage and impact from natural and technological hazards.  The resolution is:  Bruce Township does hereby adopt the Chippewa County Hazard Mitigation Plan as an official plan of Bruce Township.  The resolution was moved by Michael Pins and supported by Carl Marsh to adopt this resolution on June 12, 2014.  Roll call vote was taken, Yeas’s:  Marsh, Rogers, Pins, Sawyers and LaJoie.  Nays: None.  Resolution was declared adopted.


            Firemen’s Report:  There were two fire calls this month.  There were13 firemen certified in CPR.  The instructor would be willing to have a class for township residents for a $15.00 roster fee and $7.00 per student.  The instructor’s fee is $100.00.  This will be put in the newsletter.                     

            The Fire Department is in need of a refrigerator.

            A thank you was extended to D.J. Tracy for picking up garbage on some township roads.            


            Grounds and Park Report:  The new basket ball hoops are up, work is being done on flower beds and trees planted.

            The Dunbar Park is busy.


            Old Business:  The road brine will here next Tuesday and Wednesday.


            The boat launch at Conely’s Point was $300,000.00 over budget.


            The Chippewa County Road Commission has received a grant to put a cement culvert on W 12 Mile Rd.


            Discussion was held on the addition to be put on the Fire Hall.  The motion was made by Rogers, seconded by LaJoie to table the decision until next meeting.  Motion carried.


            New Business:  Discussion was held on excess equipment that has accumulated.  The decision was made for the Supervisor to get a list of things to sell.


            The Assessor reported that the Alexander property had been revisited. 


            Public Comments:  The question was asked when the cupboards were going to be installed in the furnace room and that there was a window screen that needed repaired.


            Motion was made by Rogers, seconded by Pins to adjourn the meeting.  All were in favor, motion carried.  The Supervisor adjourned the meeting at 8:00 p.m.
